21.- Gypsy Amber D Souza (EUA), MD; PhD MS MPH. Amber D’Souza is an Associate Professor Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She has a M.S. in Molecular and cellular biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1999), an MPH in Disease Control (2001) from the University of Texas-Houston, and a PhD in infectious disease epidemiology from Johns Hopkins (2007). Dr D’Souza leads a research program on infectious causes of cancer, screening and prevention of cancer, and risk reduction among high risk populations. She is a member of the NIH HPV Vaccine Trial Working Group, and PI of the datacenter for the MACS-WIHS Combined Cohort Study - the longest observational epidemiologic study of HIV in the United States. Dr. D’Souza is known for her research on oral HPV infection and its role in head and neck cancer. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology at Yale University. After completing her medical degree at Harvard Medical School, she went on to complete her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. 27.- Dr. Tessa Roseboom (Netherland). Professor of Early Development and Health at the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Her work focusses on the impact of the early life environment on growth, development and health throughout life. Her studies in the Dutch famine birth cohort provided the first direct evidence in humans that maternal nutrition during gestation affected offspring´s and potentially grand-offspring’s health (www.hongerwinter.nl). Her current research focuses on the fundamental biological processes that underlie ‘developmental programming’ and on translation to current pregnancies, in developed and developing settings. These studies include observational and experimental studies of the long term consequences of lifestyle interventions before and during pregnancy (www.womb-project.eu), obstetric interventions, hyperemesis gravidarum, and assisted reproduction techniques. The ultimate aim of her work is to contribute to improved human health by giving each child the best possible start in life.

28.- Stephen Lye Ph.D.(Canada). Senior Investigator at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute of Sinai Health System where he is the Scotia Bank Scientist in Child and Adolescent Development and the Women’s Auxiliary Chair in Women’s and Infants’ Health Research. Dr. Lye is Professor in the Departments of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Physiology and Medicine at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Lye leads the Alliance for Human Development, a transdisciplinary initiative that seeks to improve the health and well-being of all children, everywhere, by focusing on optimizing their development in early life.

 His research has integrated discovery, clinical and translational studies including the commercialization of discoveries in partnership with industry. Dr. Lye has established international research consortia focused on identifying interactions between an individual’s genetic make-up and their environment during the first 2000 days of life that underlie obesity and cardio-metabolic disorders. He has published over 230 research papers on pregnancy and maternal-child health with a special focus on mechanisms underlying preterm birth and other pregnancy complications. Dr. Lye has received numerous awards and honors, including Fellowship of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, Fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (UK) and the President’s Scientific Achievement Award from the Society for Reproductive Investigation.

29.- Dr. Cindy-Lee Dennis (Canada). She has the distinction of holding two research chairs. She holds the Canada Research Chair in Perinatal Community Health at the University of Toronto and the Women’s Health Research Chair at the University of Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital. She is currently the principal investigator of six large, multi-site studies related to breastfeeding exclusivity and perinatal depression. She is also examining the relationship between maternal and paternal postpartum depression and early child development and analyzing why immigrant women are at higher risk to develop postpartum depression. She is a co-investigator on 21 other research projects concerning maternal and paternal health outcomes. She has over $6 million in national research funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). She has more than 150 peer-review publications and has lead nine Cochrane systematic reviews. Lastly, she developed the Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale, the most widely used breastfeeding measure in the world. Her methodological expertise focuses on randomized controlled trials and systematic reviews and meta-analyses.

Dr. Dennis is also a Senior Scientist at the Women’s College Research Institute and is cross-appointed to the Department of Psychiatry in U of T’s Faculty of Medicine.

30.- Michelle Khan (EUA). Michelle Khan is a Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology in the United States. Works in Northern California at Kaiser Permanent, Comprehensive Health Center. She studied Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He made his residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Later he did a fellowship in infectious diseases of the reproductive tract at the University of California, San Francisco, where he studied particularly diseases related to the Human Papilloma virus. Dr. Khan has practiced high resolution anoscopy for the past seven years.

31.- Naomi Jay (USA). Naomi Jay is an assistant clinical professor of nursing at the University of California San Francisco School Of Nursing. She is a nurse practitioner in the UCSF Division of Medicine and specializes in anal neoplasia. She has been instrumental in the development of tools and methodology for the detection and diagnosis of HPV-associated anal disease and has practiced in the field now known as High Resolution Anoscopy since 1991. She is an internationally recognized educator in HRA. She began her career in women’s health and has also worked in cervical HPV clinical studies of adolescents and young women. Jay completed her undergraduate degree at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. After a 5-year sojourn in Israel growing wine grapes on Kibbutz Gezer, she is Master’s in Nursing, specializing in Women's Health and completed her doctorate in nursing at UCSF in 2007. Dr. Jay is the president of the International Anal Neoplasia Society and also serves on the board of the American Society of Cervical Colposcopy and Pathology.

32.-Warner K. Huh, MD (EUA). Professor, Vice Chair of Gynecology, Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology, and the Margaret Cameron Spain Endowed Chair in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Professor in the Department of Surgery, and Professor in the Department of Epidemiology in the UAB School of Public Health, and Senior Medical Officer and Senior Scientist in the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center. His research interests include screening and prevention of HPV related diseases as well as novel immunotherapeutic approaches for pre-invasive disease of the cervix as well as cervical cancer. He is on the steering committee for the ASCCP treatment guidelines and was co-chair of the ASCCP colposcopy standards effort. She is a graduate of Howard University, where she double majored in Biology and Chemistry earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 2000. She is a proud graduate of Meharry Medical College, earning the MD degree with Dean's Honors in 2004. Dr. Woods went on to complete her residency in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University. She is a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians Gynecologists and has published numerous essays on patient perception and physician/ patient relationships in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Huffington Post.

34.- Stephen G. Matthews (Canada).- Professor of Physiology, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Medicine at the University of Toronto. He is the Director of Research at the Alliance of Human Development. Professor Matthews received his PhD from the University of Cambridge, UK. He was appointed to the University of Toronto in 1996, and served as Chair of the Department of Physiology 2007-2014.

His research is focused towards understanding how alterations in the fetal environment can affect developmental trajectories leading to modification of neurologic and endocrine function. His recent research has established that the effects of altered fetal environments can extend across multiple generations. With a focus on epigenetics, his research team is determining the molecular mechanisms by which such ‘programming’ can occur. In a parallel program of study, his group is investigating drug and hormone transport mechanisms in the placenta and fetal brain, with a focus on developing novel treatments that modulate drug transport at these two sites, and that ultimately protect the fetus.

Professor Matthews is committed to translating fundamental research. He was founding co-director of the MAVAN program, which follows neurocognitive development in children following adverse early experience, and has been involved in a number of large international clinical trials. He has published over 200 scientific papers/book chapters, is regularly invited to present his work around the world and is involved in a number of international research initiatives.

35.- Dr. Dan Farine MD, FRCSC (Israel). Received his medical degree at Tel-Aviv University and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Toronto in 1986. He finished his fellowship in Maternal/Fetal Medicine at Columbia University, New York in 1988 following which he was appointed as a Staff Perinatologist at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. He became the Director of Maternal/Fetal Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in 1990 and the Head of Obstetrics at Mount Sinai Hospital in 1992. In 2004, he was appointed to be the Head of Maternal/ Fetal Medicine at the University of Toronto. In 2010 he became an Honorary Professor at University of Moscow and in 2016 Adjunct Professor at the Medical University of Vienna. Dr. Farine has widely published with more than 180 peer reviewed papers of which 9 received research awards. These included SPO and SMFM best paper awards, several best poster awards as well as awards from the Society for Gynecologic Investigation and the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada . He is the editor of four textbooks in Obstetrics and an author of many book chapters. Dr. Farine has also received numerous teaching awards. He was a member and the Head of The MFM Committee of the SOGC for 15 years and has founded the Canadian Society of Maternal/Fetal Medicine.
